For deep green lawns we now stock Turf Gold®. Turf Gold® is a slow release fertiliser which provides up to 10 weeks of nitrogen release and allows application without watering for up to 24 hours without the danger of burn.
Produced by Californian company Simplot Turf Gold® is a 2 particle mixture providing an effective ratio of Nitrogen, Phosphate, Potash, Sulfur, and Iron.
Turf Gold® is a mixture of BEST TURF SUPREME® and X-Cote™ which means 40% of its nitrogen is slow release. Turf Gold® provides up to 10 weeks Nitrogen release.
Turf Gold® contains:
- Nitrogen 22%
- Phosphate 5%
- Potash 6%

No Dig Gardens
Lots of people come to our shop to buy the ingredients for a no dig garden. This really is an easy way to start growing your own vegetables or flowers.
No dig gardens are a way to improve the soil you already have by adding organic matter and nutrients, and letting nature do the cultivation for you.
These are the basic steps for making a no dig garden. It's all about layers. Water well after each layer.
The first step is to add a thick layer of newspaper or cardboard to the area you've picked for your new garden. This is to prevent weeds/grass from growing through.
Then add a layer of Lucerne mulch hay.
Next add a layer of manure, then a layer of straw followed by another layer of organic material such as compost or manure.
You can make as many layers as you want alternating manure/compost (nitrogen) with straw or hay (carbon).
When you are ready to plant seeds or seedlings, using a few handfuls of Potting Mix/Garden Soil around where you're planting helps give them a good start.
Once you have finished planting add another layer of mulch - Sugar Cane Mulch is easiest to spread in between your new plants.
